Professional and Community Engagement

Fiona is passionate about continuing legal education and community engagement with the legal profession.

 

She is an experienced presenter and public speaker, having presented Continuing Professional Development seminars to a range of audiences including the Bar, professional conferences, law firms and private clients, on topics ranging from civil procedure to fraud prevention and investigation.

Fiona is also a trained Advocacy Instructor, and participates regularly in mentoring programs for early career lawyers and law students, mooting competitions, and other programs designed to develop written and oral advocacy skills such as the Victorian Bar Reader's course, Northern Territory Bar Association Advocacy Course and the annual International Maritime Law Arbitration Moot.

 

Outside of the law, Fiona has considerable experience in community engagement and not-for-profit governance, having previously acted as treasurer for Bottled Snail, a not-for-profit production company run by and for legal professionals, and since 2020 as treasurer for South Melbourne Sustainability Group, a not-for-profit community gardening organisation.
